Research - Introduction to Linux (commands and tools) for HPC
Objectives of this course
Target audience
Any PhD students, post-docs, researchers of UNIL and CHUV who need to use UNIL HPC clusters, and as a consequence to work on a Linux system with a command-line interface.
Content
At the end of the course, the participants are expected to understand:
- the use of the filesystem (move between directories, edit/copy/files files, set specific permissions to files and directories)
- the use of simple tools to handle data
- the process management on Linux
- the concept of I/O redirections and pipes
- the basis of SSH to perform remote connection/copy
- the basis of bash scripting
- the creation/use of compressed archive
