Mission and services
Mission
The FBM IT Service (Si) is responsible for providing local IT services based on existing resources at UNIL and CHUV (hardware and software infrastructure). It provides IT support to the UNIL research community (faculty members, mid-level staff, assistants) and to the administrative and technical staff of departments that have signed the Membership and support agreement of the FBM IT Management Plan (PFBM).
Activities
The activities of the FBM IT Service are following:
| Support | IT management | Infrastructure |
|---|---|---|
| Users support | Hardware and equipment purchase | Central NAS server management |
| Computer installations and repair | Software purchase | Servers and FBM applications |
| Documentation and training | Inventory | Projects and development |
Services
The FBM IT Service offers the following services :
- Local IT support in the UNIL buildings in Bugnon and Epalinges,
- Purchase of IT equipment, installation and configuration of FBM computers and laptop,
- Management of IT access to FBM resources,
- Development and maintenance of FBM web applications tailored to the needs of the Faculty,
- Technical maintenance of classrooms (Micropolis, Epalinges) for teaching and IT equipment in animal facilities (PyRAT project) in the Bugnon-Epalinges area,
- Development of IT projects to expand the FBM IT Management Plan (PFBM).
Organization
The FBM IT Service does not replace the activities of the UNIL Central IT Services (Ci) or those of the CHUV Information Systems Department (DSI), but rather complements them to meet the specific needs of the faculty. It strives to maintain dialogue between faculty users and the various IT teams at the Ci and DSI CHUV.
It brings together local IT managers who provide user support, as well as specialists in infrastructure, application, and project management.
