IT Access

Version française

Authentication systems used at UNIL

At UNIL, two distinct types of access are used:

  1. edu-ID account: this is the permanent identity for the academic community in Switzerland
  2. UNIL IT account: temporary access for the duration of a person's collaboration or studies with the institution.

These access methods are independent of each other (different usernames and passwords), but yet complement each other, are required, and - above all - are linked. For more information on this subject, please refer to the documentation provided by the UNIL Central IT Services (Ci).

UNIL IT account

UNIL employee

Every employee (academic or PAT) with a UNIL contract has a UNIL IT account. This account is automatically created by the Central IT Services (Ci) about ten days before the beginning of the contract. Your UNIL IT account gives you access to various UNIL or FBM IT resources (servers, Wi-Fi, @unil.ch e-mail, etc.).

CHUV employee (scientific collaboration)

CHUV employees affiliated with the FBM through a scientific collaboration at UNIL can request a UNIL IT account with or without a personal @unil.ch e-mail address. This access is mandatory to access certain services such as the NAS server or the PyRAT application.

CHUV users: Request a UNIL IT account to access UNIL services

Teacher at the FBM Scool of Medicine (teaching collaboration)

Employees of other institutions (Hospices Cantonaux, CHUV, etc.) affiliated with the FBM through teaching activities at the School of Medicine may request a UNIL IT account with or without a personal @unil.ch email address. This access is mandatory to access certain services such as MyUnil or Moodle.

Teachers at the FBM School of Medicine: Request a UNIL IT account to access UNIL services

External collaborators

External collaborators who are not employed by UNIL nor CHUV may request a UNIL account with or without an @unil.ch e-mail address for the duration of their collaboration on a FBM project or activity. The FBM IT Service is responsible for reviewing requests and reserves the right to refuse them if they are not justified.

External users: Request a UNIL account (external person, neither student nor employee)

UNIL authentication system list and access management

Some IT resources are restricted to specific units or user groups. If you need to access certain websites or applications, please contact the FBM IT support to have your access modified. Your request should specify the access you would like to be granted, your UNIL username, the end date of your contract (if applicable), and the unit or research group to which you belong.

You can view the list of different authentication systems used at UNIL here.

For more information about IT accounts, please refer to the documentation provided by the UNIL IT Central Services (Ci).
